Almost every day you will receive a grade for your homework and a grade for your classwork. These grades will be from 4 to 0. (See the grading scale below.) Your classwork grades are determined by everything that happens between the bells. Often I will collect a piece of classwork, which will be graded as your classwork for that day or as a second grade for that day. Your homework and classwork must show effort and thought to earn high grades. Part of your classwork grades will be whether or not you are prepared for class. Be prepared to hand in any work done in class, you may not know which piece I will collect until the end of class. You may earn extra credit by completing an agreed upon assignment that you and I have discussed before or after school.
If you are trying to learn and get something out of every class and assignment, you will be in excellent shape. Try to impress me, your classmates, and, most of all, yourself.
Make-Up Work Policy:
Late Work: Students are expected to hand in all work on the day it is due. The most you can earn from handing in late work is a 3 (75%). This policy also applies to major and minor projects - 1 point will be deducted for each day a project is late. This is only fair to the students that work hard to get work completed on time. If you have something to talk to me about, come talk to me before or after school - before the work is due.
Absent Work: If you were absent, you have 5 days to return after school and make up the work. If you do not make up the work within the days allotted you will receive a zero for any assignments missed. **This does not include cutting class. If you cut class, you will receive a zero for any assignments completed in class.
All Work: I will NOT accept any make-up work for a chapter any later than the scheduled date of the Chapter Test. This is because homework and class work are used to practice a skill, learn a concept or assess what you know about a concept. If you do the work after a test, you will not be able to get misinformation cleared up before you take the test. Do not wait until the end of a quarter to make work up, it will not be accepted.

4 (100%)
Demonstrates an exceptional level of quality and effort. Work is completed to exceedexpectations. Mastery in applying the concepts (or principles).
3.5 (87%)
Demonstrates proficient knowledge with a goodeffort and quality of work. Assignment is complete. Demonstrates the ability to apply the concepts (or principles).
3 (75%)
Demonstrates proficient knowledge and the ability to apply concepts or principles. Work shows averageeffort.
2 (50%)
Work shows minimal effort. Demonstrates a basic or surface understanding of recalling or comprehending concepts (or principles).
1 (25%)
Understanding is below basic in relation to understanding concepts (or principles). Work is of poor quality and does not meet standards or expectations.
0 (0%)
No work done on assignment.
